This article highlights my journey with Jenny Craig for the week of March 8-14th

While this week on Jenny Craig was just as fantastic as the first two weeks, things did not exactly as planned. It's amazing how fast things changed. When I sat down to enjoy one of my favorite breakfasts, the Cheesy Egg and Sausage Scramble, I had no idea my entire world was about to be rocked.

For those of you who don’t know, I am a manager for a large local not-for-profit hospice organization. I had my appointment with Jenny Craig scheduled for the end of the day on Wednesday, but I got a message from the executive team with hospice that there would be a very important meeting that afternoon to discuss Coronavirus. They were starting to hear some serious concerns about it starting to pop up in the United States, and we needed to meet to discuss how things would be handled in the coming days and weeks.

I called my Jenny Craig consultant, Connie, to see if she’d be willing to meet with me earlier in the day, and just consult with me over the phone as I drove in. It was unplanned, and I was feeling super hectic, but she was kind and calm and told me she’d do whatever she could to make things easier for me.

While I drove in, Connie and I chatted briefly about my week, my challenges, the menu and how I was doing. Luckily, that part was easy, because I’m having such an easy time with the program. I love the food, I love the sides and “free” foods I’m allowed to eat to supplement the Jenny Craig meals. I haven’t mentioned this up to this point, but another great thing about my consultant Connie is that she’s been substituting Friday meat-based meals for vegetarian or fish meals so that I can observe my Lenten fasting, which is important for me. So, we also chatted briefly about how she would be rearranging my menu to accommodate that need.

When I arrived at my Jenny Craig location, Connie had all my food bagged up and ready to go. Normally, we would go down a checklist to make sure I have everything I need for the week, but she had already double and triple checked for me, so I could just grab and go. We did do a quick weigh-in while I was there. I hadn’t lost any more weight this week, but Connie assured me it was likely due to the fact that we just switched me over to the reduced carbohydrate menu. She suggested we give it another week to see if things change, and we’d reassess from there, which sounded good to me. Connie wished me luck, told me to call if I needed anything at all, and she sent me on my way.

The rest of my week with my job was absolutely insane. My entire job and department were basically turned upside down in a matter of 72 hours. It was the most challenging 72 hours of my entire 10-year hospice career. Having the My Rapid Results plan to rely on for consistency and smart food choices was a huge lifesaver. Old me would have been binge and stress eating, running through fast food joints and paying zero attention to my own well-being. New me on the My Rapid Results program puts myself and my well-being first, because I know I can’t perform to my full potential unless I’m well.

No doubt the coming weeks are going to bring many, many challenges. I’m so thankful for the support of my Jenny Craig consultant and this plan to keep me on track.
