Melissa Basgall is a proud Kansas City mom with a passion for connecting people, building community, and celebrating all the unique opportunities the KC metro has to offer. Born and raised in KC, Melissa’s journey has taken her from Pittsburg State University to the skies as an international flight attendant, and eventually back home, where she found her calling in creating connections and fostering community.
In 2018, Melissa launched Macaroni KID Kansas City Kansas and quickly grew her reach to include three additional editions: Overland Park-Olathe-Shawnee, Downtown/South Kansas City, and Northland Kansas City. Under her leadership, these editions have become some of the largest in the Macaroni KID network nationwide, reaching over 32,000 households each week. With a knack for crafting impactful, locally tailored advertising campaigns, Melissa partners with both local and national brands to help them meaningfully engage with families in the KC metro area.
In addition to her work with Macaroni KID, Melissa serves as the Director of Volunteer Services at Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care, the area’s largest not-for-profit hospice. In this role, she works to create meaningful volunteer experiences that bring comfort and care to patients and families, while strengthening the bonds of community.
Melissa lives in Basehor with her husband, Garret, and their 9-year-old daughter, Everly. When she’s not working, Melissa enjoys exploring Kansas City’s best restaurants, traveling, attending musicals, gardening, cheering on her favorite sports teams, and relaxing by any body of water.
Whether she’s helping families discover kid-friendly activities, developing creative ad campaigns, or supporting local volunteers, Melissa is dedicated to fostering connection, joy, and growth throughout the Kansas City area.
