This article highlights my journey with Jenny Craig for the week of March 1st-7th,, 2020

My DNA results are in for the Jenny Craig My Rapid Results program. I can't wait to tell you what I learned, but first, I should mention that in my first week I lost 5 pounds! (* Avg. weight lost in study was 11.6 lbs./4 wks. for those who completed the program. I received promotional consideration.) I am thrilled with that result, and so was Connie, my Jenny Craig consultant. This week during my meeting with Connie, after I weighed in and told her about my challenges and successes on the week, we got to the good part - my DNA results.

On the Jenny Craig My Rapid Results program, you have the opportunity to have a DNA test. My Rapid Results will then leverage your DNA profile, making weight loss easier. To create the best weight loss plan for me, my DNA was analyzed according to 15 specific genetic markers that may influence my ability to lose weight. For example, how my body likely processes carbs, fats and proteins, how my body likely responds to cardio or strength training, how my sleep quality is, or my tendency to overeat or crave high-calorie foods or sweets. It even analyzes my metabolism, overweight risk and tendency to regain weight, among other things. I learned a lot from my results, and one of the more important things I learned is that my utilization of carbohydrates is low, which means my body may not process carbohydrates efficiently. This is great information, which allowed my Jenny Craig consultant to shift my meal plan to the reduced carbohydrate menu.

The reduced carbohydrate menu is a bit more restrictive than the menu I was on for week one, but since I now have DNA evidence to show that a reduced carbohydrate menu is likely to be more effective for me, it helps me to want to go all in.

The reduced carbohydrate cuts out noodles, breads, things like that. Instead, I get more protein which is great for me because I am a big fan of proteins like eggs and lean meats. Also, through the DNA testing, I learned that my body processes protein at an enhanced rate. It’s a win-win, really.

My favorite meal this week has been Chicken Sausage With Bell Pepper. As you can see, I’m allowed a nice garden salad with my lunch. With dinners, I usually have a nice side of brussel sprouts or sauteed onion and bell pepper.

I’m also a big fan of the breakfast meal, the Cheesy Egg and Sausage Scramble.

The food is all so good, and I’m really enjoying life on Jenny Craig. I'm still so ecited to see where the next 10 weeks take me and my self-care journey! Glad you’re following along, it helps to journal and share my journey with you!
