This article highlights my journey with Jenny Craig for the week of February 23-28th
I officially started my Jenny Craig journey this week, and I could not be more excited to share with you all about the program. If you missed my article last week, here’s a quick recap:
For the next 12 weeks, I will be participating in Jenny Craig’s most personalized plan, called My Rapid Results. My Rapid Results is a science-backed program, where the belief is that a customized weight loss program based on my individual body, lifestyle and goals will lead to the strongest result. Throughout the course of 12 weeks, I will follow the Jenny Craig menu provided to me, in an effort to feel better, look better, and be better for myself and my family.
On Tuesday, I went to my very first meeting with my Jenny Craig consultant, Connie. Connie is seriously one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. She welcomed me with a big smile, open arms, and such positive energy. The first thing she told me was that it’s her job to help me succeed. I’ve never had anyone (outside of a doctor, maybe) tell me that they’re whole goal is to help me. As a mom who is always caring for others, it was amazing to hear those words and feel her support.
At my first meeting with Connie, we talked about my goals, past challenges with my weight, my habits, and more. Then, she weighed me, and we talked about the food menu for the coming week. She asked about dietary preferences, and got me lined up with a great explanation of healthy snacks, what my “free” options were, basically everything I needed to know about what I should and should not put in my body in the coming weeks. Then, we did the DNA test. In case you missed that info last week, a really neat feature about Jenny Craig’s My Rapid Results is that they take a DNA sample, and my DNA will be analyzed according to 15 specific genetic markers that may influence my ability to lose weight. That way, we can leverage my DNA profile making weight loss easier. More on that hopefully next week, when I get my results! After my DNA test was complete, Connie loaded me up with a week’s worth of Jenny Craig meals, shakes, bars, salad dressings, and wished me good luck!
The day after my meeting with Connie, I began the program. The first few days were a bit challenging, just because I’m not used to such a regimented way of eating. Usually, I skip breakfast, grab lunch on the fly, and eat dinner at 9pm once everyone else has been taken care of and is in bed. Jenny Craig encourages intermittent fasting, so they want me to do all my eating within a 12 hour period. And, they want me to have an actual breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s crazy how within just a few days I realized how much I’ve been sacrificing my own wellbeing, rather than focusing on it.
The Jenny Craig food is really, really good. The cook times on all the meals are super accurate, so everything always comes out of the microwave looking and smelling perfectly. The meals are also very filling, with a lot of variety and even some great suggestions for how to dress the meals up on the back of the box. My absolute favorite meal so far was these Chicken Street Tacos.
I’m also a huge fan of the shakes, particularly the Vanilla Cream Shake. Easy to drink while working and driving.
I would definitely call week one a great success, and I can’t wait to get back into my Jenny Craig center next week to learn my DNA results and see how much progress I’ve made in my first week so I can share it with all of you!
