The Elf on the Shelf is doing a lot more than sitting on the shelf this holiday season! This year he’s busy cooking up some amazing dishes at your local IHOP! He’s joined forces with the IHOP crew to create a magical menu, using signature IHOP ingredients with a fun and elvish twist!
Last week my little family had the pleasure of heading over to our to try out the new The Elf on the Shelf menu. We decided to go at dinner time, because now through the end of the year kids eat FREE with the purchase of an adult entree! And, because who doesn’t love breakfast for dinner?
The Elf on the Shelf menu offer five unique dishes. My three year old landed on the Jolly Cakes, for obvious reasons - green pancakes, sweet cream cheese icing, whipped topping and elf-sized ornament sprinkles. When the server placed the plate in front of her she squealed with joy! When I explained that The Elf on the Shelf made it for her, she giggled and told me there was “no way!”.
Her dad and I also chose from The Elf on the Shelf menu. My husband loves funnel cake, so he went for the Oh What Funnel Cakes. It came with two funnel cakes, dusted with powdered sugar and topped with glazed strawberries, whipped topping and sprinkles. I joked that he was just a big kid ordering that meal, but my husband was so excited to have funnel cake in November. Around here funnel cakes are usually a July thing, so it was such a treat.
I chose the Holiday Ham and Sausage Omelette. It came loaded with ham and sausage, fire roasted peppers and onions, hash browns, and jack and cheddar cheese. And, it was topped with even more goodness. And did I mention it came with pancakes, too? It was seriously so good.
We didn’t have a chance to try the other two items, which are the Merry Marshmallow Hot Chocolate and the Little Elves Combo. The good news is, we have plans to go back for the Welcome Back Breakfast!
For those of you not familiar with The Elf on the Shelf and the traditions surrounding it, here’s the scoop. Every year kids anticipate the return of The Elf on the Shelf. Each year you’re supposed to have a Welcome Back Breakfast, which is when The Elf on the Shelf reappears for the season (or, for the first time ever)! This year IHOP would like to invite families everywhere to join them for the world’s largest Welcome Back Breakfast event ever!
The breakfast event will kick off #scoutelfreturnweek on Friday, November 29th and will run through Sunday, December 1st. Kids who visit IHOP during that time will not only be able to choose from The Elf on the Shelf menu, but the’ll also get this special Elf-themed activity sheet.
Can you imagine the reaction on your kids faces when The Elf on the Shelf shows up at their breakfast at IHOP? What an awesome way to bring back the magic this year.
