Autumn Art Adventures at the Nerman Museum

By The Nerman Museum September 19, 2017

In October 2007 we opened our doors, and since then we have welcomed over 1 million visitors! Help us celebrate ten exciting years of contemporary art in Kansas.

Autumn weekends are a great time to visit the Nerman Museum at JCCC, rain or shine! Enjoy the fall foliage on an outdoor sculpture hunt, explore nature in art in our campus hallway filled with landscape paintings, or learn about ephemeral sculptures in our new exhibition opening October 19, all free admission and free parking.

Early Explorations and Contemporary Creations classes are now enrolling for Saturdays! Classes are single sessions with a “make and take” format to accommodate busy schedules, so students can take one class or all four. Each week we explore a different topic and create unique projects, including clay sculptures, sun prints and narrative watercolor paintings. Pre-registration is online.

Interested in combining a campus visit with a world class performance and an interactive visual art experience? Our program directors have developed numerous customized options for all ages. Tours for scout groups, clubs and homeschoolers are scheduled by reservation throughout the year (www.nermanmuseum.org, click Visit). For JCCC Carslen Center Performing Arts options, visit jccc.edu/CarlsenCenter, click Arts Education for ticketing.

Join us at the Plaza Art Fair September 22-24! The Nerman is sharing a booth with the JCCC Fine Arts department, and we’ll be next to the Carlsen Center booth. We will have games with prizes and a free activity for children (and the young at heart) to create their own masterpiece on Nerman Museum stickers, bookmarks and posters. Commemorate a dazzling decade and learn about what we have in store.
